The village of Malverne auctioned off a 2001 garbage truck for $14,000 on Tuesday.

Village officials say the money will go back to the Department of Public Works.

Malverne uses a site called Municibid to auction off their surplus items to a nationwide audience.

Mayor Timothy Sullivan says the proceeds go toward a new truck or equipment.
