2 seriously hurt in 5-car LIE crash
A five-car crash on the Long Island Expressway seriously injured two people Friday night, police say.
It happened between exits 56 and 57 in Hauppauge.
Police say the crash began when 56-year-old Charles Healy slammed his Dodge pickup truck into a Mazda.
Healy, of West Islip, was allegedly intoxicated behind the wheel at the time of the crash.
The identities of the injured were not immediately available.
The crash led to hourslong lane closures on the highway.
