The NYPD is investigating a shooting that left two men injured in Ocean Hill.
The violence erupted at 1277 Herkimer St., steps from shops and businesses, just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The NYPD quickly sectioned off the street with crime scene tape as officers scoured the street and sidewalk for shell casings.
Authorities say a 33-year-old man was shot in the groin, while a 56-year-old man was grazed by a bullet in the lower back.
EMS took the 33-year-old to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County and the 56-year-old to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center.
Residents who live on the block of the shooting told News12 they heard at least three shots fired before dozens of people took off running.
One person said he saw a man casually walking with a gun in his hand, away from where people gathered to tend to one of the victims.
Other residents who live in the area say it isn’t unusual for this type of violence to happen, but they say that it’s a shame that on a nice day out, a shooting is what people have to worry about.
“Having this so close,” said one man, “it’s scary. Living here, it’s like that could be me. I know these things happened before, and it can happen again. I have a little anxiety about what can happen next.”
Police say the shooter was last seen wearing all black, running towards Rockaway Avenue.
