Flames broke out at a home in Huntington late Sunday night.
Firefighters from seven departments responded to Newfoundland Avenue, fire officials say.
The fire started just before midnight and took about a half hour to get under control.
One person was home at the time, but there were no injuries, according to Suffolk police.
The Red Cross was called to assist the 2 people who live there.
A neighboring house also suffered damage to the exterior.
