Police say two bodies were found less than 5 miles apart in Coram Monday morning, and investigators are trying to determine if the cases are possibly linked.
Authorities say Leon Parks, 24, was found shot to death in a parking lot at the Brookwood Village Apartments at around 8 a.m. A neighbor says he heard gunshots and then heard a car speed away.
Police say they then found Parish Whitty, 22, of Middle Island, shot to death in a black 2000 Infinity Q45 at 9:20 a.m. near Coram-Swezeytown Road and Coram-Mount Sinai Road.
The investigation is still ongoing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on these incidents to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
