Continuing decline in enrollment, ongoing financial issues and an aging building is leading to the closure of Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair.

The Archdiocese of Newark made the announcement Wednesday that the school will permanently close on June 30, at the end of this academic year.

The school was founded 100 years ago by the Sisters of Charity and calls itself a cornerstone of Catholic education in Montclair.

To assist students and parents, the school will host an informational meeting to provide guidance, resources, and next steps for the upcoming academic year on Wednesday Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at the high school.
