One person was killed in a head-on crash on the Northern State Parkway early Sunday morning, according to New York State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash westbound near Exit 25 in the Village of Lake Success around 5 a.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a Ford Escape and a Ford Maverick were involved in a head-on collision. The driver of the Maverick suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Escape was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
State police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information to contact investigators at 631-756-3300.
