An SUV crashed aboard the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Ferry on Wednesday evening, according to authorities.

The Port Jefferson Fire Department says the accident occurred before the ferry left the dock.

The driver wedged the vehicle against the wall of the second-floor ramp.

Firefighters used heavy machinery to pull it off the boat.

Authorities say one person sustained minor injuries.
