Police say one person is dead and another is in custody after a stabbing in Elmont.

According to police, the suspect is in custody and is being charged with murder.

News 12 is told the fatal stabbing happened inside a split home on Travis Avenue on Sunday around 1 p.m.

Police say the 33-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times.

According to police, officers got to the scene and witnesses helped identify the suspect.

Police say 23-year-old Desean Harrison stabbed the victim to death inside of the home where the suspect lives.

Police were in the neighborhood for hours, into the night, conducting their investigation.

The intersection of Travis and Sweetman avenues was blocked off for most of Sunday but have since reopened.

News 12 is told the victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not identified the victim or released details about a possible motive.
