A two-car crash in Commack left one person dead and another injured.

Suffolk police say it happened at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and Apple Lane on Monday around 4:45 p.m.

The victim, who was not named by police, was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured person, who was also not named, was taken to a hospital for treatment.

News 12 was able to confirm that one of the vehicles involved in the crash belonged to National Grid: Natural Gas & Electricity.

"We are cooperating fully with the Suffolk County Police Department and assisting in their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident," a spokesperson for the company wrote in part. "Our thoughts are with those affected."

It was not immediately clear how the crash unfolded.
