A fallen FDNY firefighter from Bethpage was remembered Saturday during a fundraising event in Franklin Square.
Firefighter William Tolley died in the line of duty on April 20 last year. He was battling a blaze in Queens at the time.
"He's never forgotten,” said Edward Shaw, a fellow firefighter. “We're always doing things for him. You always feel his presence in the firehouse.”
Since Tolley’s passing, members of Engine 286/Ladder 135 have done what they can to support his wife and daughter, Isabella. The event featured activities for kids and raffles, all to raise money for the William Tolley Foundation.
Tolley’s family told News 12 that they're always thankful for the continued support.
"It's very hard to understand the depth of love that the firefighters have for each other,” said Marie DeCilois, William Tolley's mother. “It's an awesome feeling."
