Police suspended their search Friday night for a Westbury teen missing for more than two weeks.
Louis Germosen, 19, was last seen June 28 near a home in West Hempstead.
In the wake of Germosen's disappearance, his family received a cryptic text message urging them to search the area near a pond in Hempstead Lake State Park. That message prompted a massive search on the ground and in the air.
"It said check both sides of the pond and check it thoroughly," his father, Luis Germosen. "And good luck and God bless. So if you get a text like that, it's like something out of a horror story."
Nassau County police suspended their search for the teen after three days of scouring Hempstead Lake State Park. Law enforcement sources say the search was suspended because no physical evidence has been found that points to this case being anything other than a runaway situation.
Police wouldn't comment on why the search was suspended, only saying that the investigation is still open.
Family members are continuing their search, hanging flyers throughout West Hempstead. They say the fact that he wasn't found in the park gives them hope that he'll be found alive.
Investigators say they don't believe the case is gang-related.
The teen's family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for a reward for any information that will help find him.
