Searchers check Hempstead park waters for missing teen

HEMPSTEAD -

Searchers returned to Hempstead Lake State Park for a third day Tuesday to look for a missing Westbury teenager.

News 12 has reported that Louis Germosen, 19, was last seen in June when his friend dropped him off at a house on Roosevelt Street in West Hempstead. At the house, a man who identified himself as Seykou acknowledged that the teen had been there on June 30. Germosen's mother said she last saw him two days earlier.

A family member then received an anonymous cryptic text message this past weekend, saying that various locations should be searched, including Schodack Pond in Hempstead Lake State Park.

It also said "good luck, god bless.”

Family members arrived at the park before police Tuesday, and used sticks to push back weeds around the pond. Again, nothing was found.

Germosen’s father told News 12 that he still has hope his son could be alive and well, especially since nothing has been found in the park yet.

Germosen's family also said they got a text from someone saying that the teen's cellphone was found in Manhattan. It’s one of many leads police say they are pursuing.

Nassau police called the search for the 19-year-old a "very active missing person’s case."
