Officials say a man was found dead after a home went up in flames in Bethpage early Friday morning.
Fire officials say they were called to the home on Farm Ranch Road East just after 2 a.m.
According to officials, upon arrival, a 65-year-old male was found dead in the front bedroom. Officials say the fire has not been deemed suspicious.
Neighbors say they would often see the man, who used a wheelchair, sitting in front of his home.
"The house has been empty for years and now he just came back maybe six months ago, then this happened, it's sad, it really is," says Joanne Orlando.
A total of 46 Bethpage firefighters responded, and one firefighter was treated at the scene for dehydration.
The fire was under control at 2:47 a.m., and the house is considered a total loss.
