A Bellport woman is being formally charged for an alleged hit-and-run crash that killed a 22-year-old volunteer firefighter last month, prosecutors say.
Authorities say Maria Guallpa-Bonilla struck Christopher Hlavaty while he was riding his motorcycle near Rider Avenue. He died later that night.
Officials say Guallpa-Bonilla had a permit, but no license on her at the time of the crash.
She faces up to seven years in prison if convicted, according to authorities.
