Police say a 14-year-old girl was killed Wednesday night in a multi-car crash in Farmingdale.
They say the four-car crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. at the busy intersection of Fulton and Main streets.
According to officials, a 45-year-old man was driving a minivan with a 14-year-old girl in the passenger seat when they made a left turn at the intersection and were hit by a Jeep. They say the Jeep struck the passenger's side of the minivan where the girl was sitting.
Officials say the teen was rushed to a hospital with severe injuries and later died.
"It was a mess of metal," one witness says. "You couldn't even tell it was a minivan."
Police say three others were injured, including the driver of the minivan, the driver of the Jeep and an occupant from the stopped vehicle at the traffic light. They say all three were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officials say no charges are being filed against the driver of the Jeep.
They have not revealed the name of the girl.
