A former Hempstead police officer was sentenced to three years of probation and alcohol counseling for a 2015 incident involving a woman and a child outside a Hempstead restaurant.
Officer Louis Arcila was convicted for official misconduct and child endangerment after grabbing a woman's breasts in front of her young children.
He was off-duty, but still wearing his badge at the time of the incident.
According to Nassau District Attorney Singas, Arcila followed the woman to her car after she had exited El Rancho Catracho restaurant.
The DA says Arcila threatened to issue the victim a ticket, and when she questioned why, he responded because he liked her breasts.
Singas says Arcila then entered the car and asked the woman if she found him attractive. The mother and daughter both testified at trial that the former officer repeatedly tried to touch the mother’s intimate parts.
