Stone Grissom
Stone Grissom is the main prime time anchor at News 12 Long Island. He anchors breaking news throughout the afternoon and is live weeknights from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Grissom has won multiple awards for his work as a journalist, and while at News 12, has been recognized by the Associated Press for best evening broadcast. Grissom complements his journalism career with a distinguished background as a successful practicing trial attorney. As a legal analyst and reporter, Grissom has been recognized for his work covering such national and international stories as the Sandy Hook shooting, multiple hurricanes, numerous presidential and local elections, the civil trial of Michael Jackson, the sentencing of the Green River killer, and the trial of Saddam Hussein.
He is a proven leader in the newsroom, and a mentor to fellow journalists. Grissom has been involved as an anchor and executive producer in the start ups of two news operations, and has appeared as a legal analyst on numerous local and national stations, including Court TV, MSNBC, Nancy Grace, CNN and Fox.
Grissom earned his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School, and formally practiced both complex civil litigation, civil rights, and complex criminal defense. He was named a "Rising Star" three years in a row by the Washington publication, Law and Politics, and co-chaired the trial advocacy division of the Washington State Bar Association.
When not on the air, Grissom is an associate professor at State University of New York at Farmingdale where he teaches News Media and News Writing.
