The Department of Environmental Conservation says it identified areas of the park that may need additional investigation after examining historical photos of the park.

38ds agoContractors for Northrup Grumman were back at Bethpage Community Park Friday morning, excavating a site where a concrete block was discovered. The dig site is just 20-25 feet away from where barrels were found last month.
The Department of Environmental Conservation says it identified areas of the park that may need additional investigation after examining historical photos of the park. Although Grumman crews scanned the area with ground penetrating radar, the concrete encasement, which is 7 to 8 feet underground, did not come up on the scans.
Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino is calling for a complete scan of the park and removal of all contaminated soil.
