Once partly a plumbing supply store, Franklin Point has transformed into a thriving hub for community, creativity, and local business.
Located at 12 Franklin St. the redevelopment is part of the Astral Weeks Real Estate Project, which features five unique warehouse spaces now home to new retail shops, restaurants, creative workspaces, and event venues.
“This is a super under-utilized little space,” said resident Kyle O’Malley. “This will definitely bring a lot more energy to this area.” The project preserves the character of the neighborhood’s industrial past while infusing it with modern energy and opportunity.
“I think what Astral Weeks has done is really brilliant,” said Hank O’Donnell, partner at GoodSpace NYC. “They’ve taken these old, beat-up warehouses and brought new life into them.”
The redesigned buildings now feature skylit rooms and Manhattan skyline views, offering a fresh take on urban space while honoring the city’s industrial heritage. O’Donnell says the project also emphasizes local hiring, with opportunities in fitness, food and beverage, hospitality, and health and wellness.
“There would be hiring from the local populace, from fitness to food and beverage, hospitality tenants, a lot of health and wellness,” O’Donnell added.
Events hosted at Franklin Point are already making an impact. This year’s Oktoberfest drew large crowds and provided a much-needed boost to nearby small businesses.
“Lines down the block,” O’Donnell recalled. “It was nice to see this parcel, which hasn’t really been activated since 2018, have new life breathed into it.”
With community events planned year-round and the possibility of Oktoberfest returning next year, Franklin Point is fast becoming a cornerstone of neighborhood revival, and a resource for potential job opportunities for a growing community.
