Suffolk police officer saves couple from burning home in Selden

A Suffolk County police officer led a man and woman to safety after running into their burning home in Selden on Saturday night.
Police say the incident occurred at around 4:55 p.m. at 57 Abinet Court.
According to Suffolk police, Officer Sean Kalletta “entered the burning home and found two residents attempting to rescue their two dogs."
Officer Kalletta then escorted the husband and wife out of their home and attempted to rescue the dogs.
That’s when police say one of the dogs bit the officer, who was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for smoke inhalation and a dog bite.
Multiple fire departments extinguished the blaze.
One dog was rescued by firefighters, the other left the house on its own. Both are expected to be OK.
