Uber resumes operations in Colombia after weeks of tensionPosted: Updated:
Uber is restarting operations in Colombia after finding new ways to work legally there. The app was offline for three weeks in the South American country after several unions and lawmakers expressed outrage and claimed that Uber competes unfairly with taxi drivers and evades taxes. Now the company is hoping to contract some of those taxi drivers to ease tensions.
Wells Fargo is expected to pay roughly $3 billion in order to settle federal investigations into sales practices that took place at the bank, according to the New York Times. The scandal erupted back in 2016 when Wells Fargo had revealed that it illegally opened millions of bank accounts in customers’ names without their knowledge. The SEC says that the settlements could be announced as soon as today.
Tesla has been given the OK to clear more than 200 acres of forest for the Gigafactory. A German court approved deforestation for the car and battery factory being built east of Berlin - the company's first in Europe. Several environmental groups raised concerns about cutting down the forest for such a factory. Tesla says it will replant three times as many trees as it’s cutting down.
