Matchpoint NYC restores Bensonhurst Tennis Center from Superstorm Sandy damage

Tennis is back in Bensonhurst after courts were destroyed by Superstorm Sandy seven years ago.
massive tent over the courts allows for a year-round operation. The outdoor area is open for six months when the public can play for free. The other indoor half is open for reservations. A Matchpoint NYC membership is not required to play.
"People don't want to commit for the month, for the year, they can just come in and enjoy this facility," says Nino Muhatasov, Matchpoint NYC founder.
Not a fan of tennis? There are other sports options available.
"Our motto is multi-sports facility. And that's why we added the soccer field, cafe and all different things," says Muhatasov.
The hope is that the sports complex serves up something so vital to the community that it makes people want to come back for more.
"That's our goal. To make sure kids stay off the phones and actually play sports," says Muhatasov.
Programs are open to all ages.
