Two students on Long Island are being recognized for getting perfect scores on the ACTs.
William Floyd High School senior Farihah Chowdhury and Westhampton Beach High School junior Jane Paulson are in the top .03% of students who took the test.
"I was just in shock," says Chowdhury about her score of 36 on the ACT.
Chowdhury is also the president of the National Honor Society, a member of student government, on the varsity swim team and plays the violin.
She says her parents were the first people she told about her perfect score. Chowdhury also credits her perfect score on the ACT to being a student at William Floyd High School.
"We both started screaming," says Paulson about her and her mom's reaction to learning she had a perfect ACT score.
Paulson says it hasn't sunk in yet, and she still has the SATs coming up and a full class schedule.
Chowdhury is waiting to hear from the colleges she applied to. Paulson has another year of high school.
According to the ACT, students who score a 36 have likely mastered all of the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in first-year college courses.
