Pre-trial hearings continued Friday for Diego Suero and Frederick Then, two alleged gang leaders charged with the murder of Bronx teen Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz.
Both are charged in the 2018 fatal stabbing. Neither of the defendants were captured on video stabbing Junior, but Suero was arrested for allegedly ordering the hit on a rival gang member the night prosecutors say Junior was mistakenly targeted.
In a taped NYPD interrogation played by prosecutors, Suero offered to cooperate with police if they released him to his family with a tracking bracelet after his July 2018 arrest.
In the video, Suero told police he could get the machete used in Junior's murder by the next day if they let him go. Suero later identified the men who were convicted of stabbing Junior to death in photos provided by detectives.
They received life sentences earlier this month. Several more defendants charged in the case are awaiting their own trial.
In the tape played in court on Friday, Suero told police he would cooperate, not for himself, but for his family.
Suero and Then are charged with second-degree murder. Their hearing resumes on Monday.
