LIRR replacing low-hanging bridge in Garden City

It's been the site of many accidents over the years, and now the LIRR is taking action on a low-hanging bridge in Garden City.

The railroad is replacing the Nassau Boulevard bridge near the Merillon Avenue station.

Officials say the bridge is currently less than 12 feet in height, and trucks end up crashing into it.

When work is done, the new bridge will have a clearance of 14 feet.

Service on the main line will be halted between New Hyde Park and Hicksville this weekend for the project.
