Police: East End teen shooting possibly linked to gang activity

Police believe a shooting last Wednesday on the East End is tied to possible drug and gang activity.
The incident occurred on May 9 near a popular park in Riverside. Police say the 15-year-old victim was shot in the leg.
Neighbors told News 12 that they believe it was the result of a botched drug deal.
So far, police say the shooting victim and his family have not been cooperative with the police during their investigation.
Police say they have stepped up patrols in the neighborhood. A $5,000 reward is being offered to anyone providing information leading to an arrest for the shooting.
Southampton Town Police Chief Steven Skrynecki told News 12 that there is some drug and gang activity in the town. He pointed to recent graffiti at a park believed to be the markings of the 18th Street Gang.
