The award went to Leadership Prep Ocean Hill.
The charter school was among 400 other schools across the nation and only three in New York to receive the achievement.
According to the U.S. Department of Education's website, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among students.
