Sports summer camp sees heightened attendance during Olympic Games

A local sports summer camp is seeing a heightened number of campers this year, which officials say may be due to an interest in the Olympic Games.
Skyhawks Sports Academy offers several summer camps across the country, including right here in Milford.
Campers work on respect, inclusion, leadership, sportsmanship and teamwork skills, camp director Jamie Allen says.
The camp offers basketball, volleyball, golf, track and field, baseball, softball and soccer.
Allen says attendance has gone up thanks in part to the Olympics.
"We've talked about volleyball and how that translates to what we're doing on the court," Allen says.
Allen says the pandemic really held kids back and that the camp is giving them a chance to get back out and be active.
She says the Olympics gives the children great role models to get them going again.
