Riverhead, Levittown, Plainview-Old Bethpage among school districts with new COVID-19 cases
COVID-19 cases continued to pop up in school districts across Long Island early in the week.
A student Riverhead High School tested positive and is now in quarantine. The district also says a staff member at Aquebogue Elementary has had symptoms of the virus. There is no word on if that employee has been tested.
Two students at MacArthur High School have also tested positive for COVID-19. The Levittown school district says one of the students was in the school as recently as Tuesday. Contact tracing is now underway.
The Plainview-Old Bethpage school district is reporting two cases -- one at Maalin Middle School and one at Judy Jacob Parkway Elementary. Both schools will stay open for in-person instruction.
Sachem North High School is closing its doors for another week after at least 15 students and staff tested positive. Students are learning remotely, and the school is set to reopen on Oct. 14.
