Abeda graduated with a mechanical engineering degree in 2017, but after a poor work and personal life experience, has since moved back in with their parents and is pursuing a career in software engineering instead. They learned programming from an intensive bootcamp and have since had several internships that haven’t gone further. Although they’re technically qualified to jump into a role now, they do face some especially social obstacles. Firstly, they're a trans man, and while that may not be a factor in the hiring process for some employers, it can make an impact in the interview process. Additionally, they have ADHD and autism, and when it comes to interviews as well as workplace communication, business etiquette and employee expectations can be extra challenging for neurodivergent people. Abeda has been going through the interview process at JP Morgan in the coming weeks and is hoping for an offer. |
