Port Chester schools got back to normal today after a shooting scare Wednesday afternoon that caused a lockout across the district.
An enhanced police presence was on hand today at all schools after investigators say an anonymous call came in at 10 a.m. reporting a threat to shoot up the Park Avenue Elementary School.
School officials and police have to take all these threats seriously, so all the schools in the Port Chester school district were placed on a lockout but normal classes continued inside.
Port Chester police said they worked with school officials, Rye Brook police, and the FBI to conduct an extensive investigation.
Police officials later reported that a juvenile had been charged and taken into custody.
There was no further information released about the arrest, most likely due to the age of the juvenile involved.
The lockout was lifted later in the afternoon.
Port Chester school officials said after working with the police they felt it's safe to return to a normal school day today.
