Police: Norwalk city official killed tenant over missing rent payments

Police say the Norwalk Republican deputy registrar of voters fatally shot her tenant five times Thursday over missed rent payments.
Ellen Wink appeared before a judge at Stamford Superior Court Friday for the first time on her murder charge.
Police say Wink called them Thursday and admitted to police that she shot Kurt Lametta five times with her Smith & Wesson revolver.
"Her mood is concerned like anybody's would be in this situation," her attorney Kevin Black said after her arraignment.
Wink told police she was tired of arguing with Lametta because he was late every month on rent. She said she took his belongings to the dump months ago.
The home where the shooting occurred, 16 Nelson Avenue, is listed for sale and Wink is the realtor. She owns five properties in Norwalk.
Joey DiMeglio, from Norwalk, says his friend Lametta was a good guy and didn't deserve this.
"It was over eviction. He wasn't leaving, she wanted him out of there and this is the end result," said DiMeglio.
Wink is being held on a $1 million bond.
Norwalk Republican Town Commitee Chair Fred Wilms told News 12 Connecticut by phone that he is shocked by this case and hopes the Norwalk Police Department will conduct a thorough investigation.
If Wink posts bond she will be under house arrest. She is a former city clerk and talked about running for mayor of Norwalk a few years ago.
