Plane lands in Quinnipiac River when engine sputters; boaters save 2 people and dog
A plane with two people and a dog emergency landed Thursday afternoon into the Quinnipiac River.
New Haven officials say the plane originated from Florida, had stopped in New Jersey, and was heading to Massachusetts when the engine started to sputter.
The pilot was trying to land it at Tweed Airport, but instead landed it in the river. The tide was out, so the plane landed in about three feet of water.
Nearby boaters came to help and were able to get the couple and their pet out safely.
