Newsday: Possible MS-13 gang link to Central Islip shootings

There are new reports that could link the MS-13 gang to two of the three fatal Central Islip shootings this past week.

Newsday says that bullets recovered from the killings of 21-year-old Derrick Mayes and 21-year-old Keenan Russell match those recovered from other crimes involving MS-13.

They say that two of the three shootings this past week may have been part of a gang initiation.

Suffolk police have not yet confirmed the gang link. They say the shootings are being actively investigated and detectives are following all leads.
