Carriage Barn Arts Center at Waveny Park in New Canaan is showcasing a special exhibit to help a Ukrainian artist.
Olha Pilyuhina is a tapestry artist and reached out to the center for help after Russia invaded Ukraine, which is making it difficult to sell her work. Pilyuhina is currently living in Eastern Ukraine near the frontlines of the war.
Organizers of the exhibit say it's important to showcase her work, as it represents traditional Ukrainian artwork with a twist.
"Of course we jumped at the chance to show her art which is really fabulous," says organizer Galina Kolomietz. "All this aesthetic is built on the traditions of Ukrainian weaving but add this modern narrative element to it."
The center says they're planning to donate their share of the proceeds to support Ukraine.
The exhibit closes on July 30th. For more information, click here.
