Residents gathered in the Lincroft section of Middletown for a rally to voice their opposition to Gov. Phil Murphy's decision on masks.
While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new guidance saying those who are fully vaccinated no longer have to wear masks, New Jersey's mask mandates are still in effect.

The CDC's updated guidelines applies to most activities for those who have been fully vaccinated and have waited two weeks since their last dose.
The guidelines still recommend fully vaccinated people to wear a mask when traveling or visiting certain places, such as hospitals.
In New Jersey, masks are still required inside even for those who have been fully vaccinated.
Some residents at the rally told News 12 they want to shed masks regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not, saying they should have the right to choose.
"The decision by Gov. Murphy is despicable. There are people that I know that have been vaccinated and shouldn't be forced to wear masks and people who aren't vaccinated shouldn't have to be wearing masks either," says Caitlin Cunningham, of Bedminster.
While Gov. Murphy is the keeping the indoor mask mandate in place in public settings, he says as the state approaches it's vaccination target of 4.7 million by June 30, he expects to lift it soon.
