A meeting was held Sunday night at the school of the third grader who died this week of meningitis.
Administrators from South Country School District and Suffolk County Department of Health officials met with over 100 parents at Bellport High School to try to calm parents? fears.
While officials from the county Department of Health say that the recent death of 8-year-old Ernesto Velasquez does not mark a health scare, parents are still concerned.
?The most important thing is we need to know how to prevent this from occurring again,? said Matt Van Ripper, a parent in the district.
School administrators say that they have disinfected the common areas of Brookhaven Elementary School and expect to reopen schools on Monday.
There have been no additional reports of meningitis symptoms from any other students.
