Homeless advocates protest timing of Bridgeport's 'tent city' shut down

Some who advocate on behalf of the homeless say with cold weather coming soon, the tent city residents should have been given more time to leave.

Some Bridgeport residents protested the timing of the shutdown of "tent city" – the homeless encampment under I-95 in the city’s East End.
As News 12 Connecticut reported, the state Department of Transportation announced Wednesday its decision to move residents off of its property.
Some who advocate on behalf of the homeless say with cold weather coming soon, the tent city residents should have been given more time to leave.
The Bridgeport YMCA South End Community Center, along with several homeless outreach organizations, have offered help the tent city residents, but some are refusing to go into shelters.
