Nassau County police say they?ve arrested a man linked to more than a dozen burglaries in the Levittown area this year.
Authorities believe 25-year-old Juan Orlando Sanchez Frech, of Hempstead, is responsible for at least 11 break-ins since January. He was arrested Tuesday night at his home after his girlfriend called the cops because he allegedly pulled out gun and threatened her. Cops say he was carrying a backpack filled with stolen goods when he was caught. Over the past couple months, Frech and an accomplice would take the bus to Hempstead Turnpike and then walk to the Levittown area knocking on doors where they thought no one was home, police say. If no one answered, the duo would go around back and break in, according to Detective Lt. Ray Cote.
Alleged burglary victim Linda Corey says she and her neighbors have formed a watch group. Residents say they'll continue to keep a watchful eye since the accomplice is still on the loose.
?I hope they get him fast, and I'm sure this other guy that they already did catch is spilling his guts,? Corey says.
Police say Frech and his alleged accomplice are also responsible for burglaries in North Merrick and North Bellmore. Frech is set to be arraigned Thursday.
