Former Stony Brook professor gets 1 year in prison for stealing cancer research money

The former Stony Brook University professor who stole cancer research money will serve a year in prison.
Under a plea deal, Geoffrey Girnun also agreed to pay back the $225,000 he stole.
Prosecutors say he used the stolen money for personal expenses including mortgage payments and tuition for his kids.
Girnun resigned from his job at Stony Brook in December.
