The first "Fashion Toy Drive" and fundraiser was held in Mount Vernon Saturday to benefit organizations that help children in need.
Event organizer Jackie Love said she knows firsthand the challenges of having to conquer obstacles after losing everything.
"God put me to a place that I had to go into a shelter for a minute when I lost my job and it hurt my heart. I never was in a shelter in my life, but sometimes you have to see what He wants you to see. My purpose in life is to help other children that can have a blessing in their life," she said.
Guests at the event were treated to a buffet of hot food and desserts.
Love said that plans are already underway for a similar toy drive and fundraiser next year.
