Fairfield Warde High School students in the entrepreneurship class created a nonprofit, selling sweatshirts in honor of a classmate who took his own life last year.
The students created 'Spreading Smiles Fairfield,' and say all the money raised will be donated to an organization to prevent teen suicide.
Kevin Kuczo played on the football and lacrosse teams, he was a beloved teammate, classmate, and friend.
Kuczo's parents believe that remote learning during the height of the pandemic intensified their son's depression which led him to take his own life.
Kuczo's classmates are also helping to raise awareness on mental health issues.
"We want to prevent another tragedy like this from happening, by spreading smiles as our name is, and just spreading happiness and supporting your friends and being there for people, and inclusion. And mental health awareness,” Charlotte Sequeira says.
If you want to purchase a sweatshirt for $40, email Spreadsmilesfairfield@gmail.com All the proceeds will be donated to Will to Live in Kevin's honor.
