309ds agoA Fairfield business owner says he is navigating supply chain shortages and the rising cost of items in preparation for Thanksgiving.
Andy Rolleri, owner of The Pantry on the Post Road, says he's in good shape when it comes to making Thanksgiving meals for his loyal customers. But he's paying extra for some items.
Rolleri says the trays and containers used to package Thanksgiving meals have gotten a whole lot more expensive.
"It's pretty much doubled. It's like a little plastic container that used to cost 20 cents, and now it costs 40 cents," he says.
The price increase, coupled with a lack of manufacturers and truck drivers, means Rolleri planned ahead so he wasn't left scrambling ahead of Thanksgiving.
He says he purchased 700 foil trays and covers and is expected to get more in tomorrow.
His best advice to anyone disappointed if they don't receive their favorite Thanksgiving dish this year is to be thankful for what you have.
"Relax. If you can't get what you want, at least you're eating something. That's a lot better off than a lot of people in the world."
