A Bellmore neighborhood was cordoned off by police due to a domestic incident Monday.
Police say the incident began with an argument between an 18-year-old and his father. According to authorities, a knife and long barrel gun were found in the house.
The teenager came out and surrendered to authorities without force. Police say the father told officers he felt threatened, but that the teen's mother and younger brother did not.
The 18-year-old has been charged with criminal mischief. Authorities are investigating whether either weapon was used in a threatening manner toward the father.
