Coastal flood advisories were in effect for Friday morning's high tide along the Jersey Shore.

Manasquan residents were finally able to get out of their driveways just before noon as the water went down following a 3-foot storm surge around 8 a.m.

Zeta made its closest approach Thursday evening, causing strong winds that kicked up the ocean. The gusty winds remained overnight and into the morning in the Northeast. This, along with the full moon, caused large waves.

Connor Cadigan just moved to Manasquan several weeks ago, and says this was his first time experiencing a coastal storm.

"We came home last night, water was rising and looked like it was coming in, and then our neighbor knocked on our door and told us to park in the church parking lot because it's a lot more elevated," Cadigan says.

Some vehicles were seen facing water damage in the many blocks of Manasquan that were under water.

The storm pulled away around noon, so Friday evening’s high tide is expected to drop below advisory levels. However, there could still be flooding in low-lying areas.
