A Bronx mother who lost her home in an explosion received special gifts from Giving Friends ahead of Mother’s Day.
The nonprofit organization has been helping the family since the incident.
Evelyn Gonzales says she is grateful that her family survived the building explosion back in February on Paulding Avenue during a snowstorm.
With no other way to escape, Gonzales tossed her baby girl Madison off of a second-floor balcony into the arms of a next-door neighbor who caught the infant in a dramatic rescue.
Gonzales’ older daughter, who suffered two broken legs, is still in the hospital and is scheduled to be released soon.
The family is staying with relatives as they try to get back on their feet.
