The bitter cold has forced the city into a Code Blue until Sunday evening.
That means that anyone who is homeless or looking for shelter will not be denied, according to the city's Department of Homeless Services.
The Department of Social Services released a statement:
"Helping our neighbors experiencing unsheltered homelessness get back on their feet is hard work in the best of times. Since the outset of this pandemic, our essential outreach staff have reported for duty around the clock, on the frontlines providing a helping hand 24/7/365, which has been more important than ever before, as we're focused on protecting our clients' safety in addition to helping them transition off the streets and subways."
News 12 is tracking some wintry weather next week, including the potential for a snowstorm on Thursday.
Anyone that would like to help a homeless person seek shelter can call 311.
