The Wyandanch Union Free School District is getting a $19 million renovation.

Fewer than 300 residents reportedly voted Tuesday on a proposition to renovate deteriorating school buildings. The renovation won 166 to 116, according to Newsday.

The Wyandanch school district was in danger of losing millions in state aid because it had already rejected a bigger renovation plan in the fall.
