New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveals life expectancy between men and women in the U.S widened by almost six years during the pandemic.
The
CDC says that's mainly due to differences in mortality rates from COVID-19.
In 2021, the life expectancy for women was 79.3 years compared to 73.5 years for men, the largest difference since 1996.
However, life expectancy for Americans fell more than two and a half years, since the start of the pandemic down to 76.1 years in 2021.
